COVID-19: Please Read
Please be aware that we are setting up telephone appointments to speak with our doctors. We are not accepting in-person registrations at this time. Our doctors are happy to refill prescriptions, review lab work, and provide initial assessments by phone. Please call our clinic or register online through Medimap. Please be aware that our phone lines are busy as we work through these uncertain times. If you can’t get through, please wait a few moments and try us again or register online. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
We have opportunities for doctors for part/full time work/clinic ownership. Accommodating hours available. Please contact Dr. Lorne Verhulst by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Proudly serving the Victoria community since 1989, the Shelbourne Medical Clinic offers convenient walk-in medical care and family practices for urgent and routine health problems. You will find the clinic welcoming, comfortable and professional. Our walk-in clinic welcomes Victoria residents and out of town visitors.
The medical clinic is conveniently located beside the Hillside Mall. We are a short drive from downtown Victoria and the University of Victoria, and a short walk from Camosun College. We offer ample free parking and are easily accessible by car and public transport.
If there is a wait to see the doctor, we will register you and give you an estimated time you will see the doctor. You may leave if you wish but please return by the time you were given so you don’t lose your place in line. As this is a walk-in clinic, we do not book appointments.
COVID-19 – PLEASE READ
Please be aware that we are setting up telephone appointments to speak with our doctors. Our doctors are happy to refill prescriptions, review lab work, and provide initial assessments by phone. Please call our clinic or register online through Medimap. If you are experiencing respiratory symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing), please self-isolate. Please stay at home, unless in the case of an emergency, even if 811 has advised you to attend a clinic. You can call our clinic at 250-592-8485 so we can set you up with a telephone appointment with one of our doctors. We appreciate your understanding and co-operation.
As of March 15, BC is now focusing testing on HealthCare workers, long term care residents and hospitalized patients. Individuals returning from trips outside Canada are being asked to self-isolate for 14 days—with the exception of healthcare workers who are being asked to self-monitor their symptoms and return to work so that we can care for our patients. This is certainly an emotional time, and while you may be healthy and without symptoms, social distancing is about protecting your loved ones, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. If you do have symptoms (cough, fever, or new shortness of breath), these could be symptoms of COVID-19, seasonal influenza or a cold. Either way, the safest approach is to isolate yourself for 14 days (the contagious period for someone with COVID-19). Alternatively, use the COVID-19 screening tool, found here.
As per the BC Ministry of Health and the Provincial Health Officer’s joint statement on March 12, we will not be providing sick notes during this time.
For ALL questions around coronavirus and COVID-19, please visit the BC Centre of Disease Control website or the Island Health website for the most up to date information. Thank you for respecting our staff’s time so that we can deal with the ongoing demand for other patients in this difficult time. We will continue to update our website as necessary, as things are frequently changing.
